RidgelineTrail Project

Eugene Parks Foundation and its affiliate Friends of the Ridgeline has joined an alliance with the Obsidians, the Disciples of Dirt and the Parks and Open Space Division of the City of Eugene to realize a key trail segment of the Ridgeline Trail System.

Currently to go between Spencer Butte and Mt. Baldy, one must walk for about one-half mile along Dillard Road between the Dillard North and Dillard West Trailheads.   The new trail will create an off-road linkage between the two trail segments on city-owned property. The general location of the new trail section is shown in red. on the map above.

The proposed tail segment will become more critical in the future with the eventual development of trails and park facilities in the Suzanne Arlie Park east of Mt. Baldy and even further with connections to Mt Pisgah.

The new trail segment will be a multiple-use trail, perhaps with separation of biking and hiking uses where possible.  Details of the trail route, surface and location of a necessary bridge are yet to be determined.  Members of the alliance will raise matching funds and garner in-kind donations to demonstrate community support  for and participation in the trail project.   Construction of the new trail segment is anticipated for the fall of 2014, primarily using city parks funding.  Creation of a separate biking trail is under consideration for the following year.

Friends of the Ridgeline is a program of the Eugene Parks Foundation with a  mission of supporting  acquisition, restoration, and recreation along a publicly-owned corridor stretching through the South Hills of Eugene, Oregon.
